This was a more scholarly book than I was expecting. Very deep & detailed. A lot of research for each chapter. Some chapters engaged me more than others, to be honest, but I particularly enjoyed the chapter on religion in early America, and the movement to anti-scholarship, anti-knowledge, and anti-intellectualism that began in the 1700's.
